About Larry
Larry Fortune is President of FORTUNE ASSOCIATES. Born and raised in Fresno he graduated from Stanford University in 1970. In 1974, after working for the Bank of California in San Francisco for several years, he came back to Fresno and began his career in an office opened by his father in 1965. He is a past president of the Fresno Association of REALTORS® and an “Honorary Director for Life” of the California Association of REALTORS He graduated from the REALTORS® INSTITUTE (GRI) in 1981 and was named the Fresno Association of REALTORS®, “REALTOR® of the YEAR” in 1986.
Mr. Fortune currently serves as Chairman of the Center for Advanced Research and Technology (C.A.R.T. School), a City of Fresno Redevelopment Agency Project Area Committee and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Foundation for Public Safety. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Corporation Serving Fresno County, the Fresno County Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Committee, the Board of Management, Regional Occupational Program (ROP) of the Fresno County Office of Education and the Fresno County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo). He has previously served on the boards of the Fig Garden Police Protection District, Better Business Bureau, Central California Blood Center, Tree Fresno, Fresno County Community Housing Leadership Board, Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame, Fresno Police Activities League, Fresno Regional Workforce Investment Board, State of California Workforce Investment Board and as the private sector member from Fresno County to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley.
Mr. Fortune has been appointed a receiver by the Fresno County Superior Court and a Chapter XI Trustee by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California. He has qualified and testified as an expert witness on real estate matters in the civil courts of Fresno, Madera, Kern and Santa Clara Counties and the criminal courts of Fresno County and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California. He has acted as a court appointed mediator in Fresno and Monterey Counties.
He has been married to Jane for over 30 years and has two children.
