A lifelong resident of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, Marina attended Lake Forest Country Day School, Woodlands Academy, and later the University of Utah and Richmond College in London. She raised her three children in the Lake Forest Schools and remains an active community volunteer. Her service includes numerous local boards such as The Lake Forest Garden Club (GCA), the Elawa Farm Foundation, the Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Women’s Board, The Allendale Shelter Club, and the Village of Lake Bluff, where she served as a Trustee. She currently sits on the board of the Lake Forest History Center.

Beyond real estate, Marina brings a deep love of the outdoors and a sharp business acumen, honed while managing her family’s 6,000-acre cattle ranch and agri-business in Wyoming, where she oversaw the successful sale of the ranch after 50 years of family ownership. When she’s not working, she can often be found fly-fishing or hunting with her husband, embracing the wide-open Western landscapes she loves.

In 2025, Marina proudly welcomed her daughter, Marina Vernon, to the team. Drawing on her marketing and operations experience with Sazerac and Terlato Wines, Marina Vernon brings a fresh, innovative perspective that enhances the team’s ability to connect with today’s buyers and sellers while continuing the Carney legacy of excellence on Chicago’s North Shore.
