FOUNDER | TRAVER HRE
Mathew Bessette
Experienced counsel. Candid advice. A little levity when it matters.
Mathew Bessette is the founder of Traver HRE (Healthcare Real Estate) and a commercial real estate advisor with almost twenty years of experience representing tenants, buyers, landlords, and sellers. He specializes in healthcare real estate, helping healthcare providers, growing practices, and multi-location organizations make better decisions about where and how they operate.
Born and raised in Middlebury, Connecticut, Mathew graduated from UConn with a degree in political science and English. His first career was as a brand marketing and communications manager for two multibillion-dollar companies in the building products industry before he transitioned into commercial real estate.
Before founding Traver HRE, Mathew served as a Senior Broker with CARR Healthcare Realty, where he helped advance the firm's purpose of "Helping People Who Help People" by representing healthcare tenants and buyers across the Carolinas. Throughout his career, he has advised independent providers, national-account clients, and major healthcare systems across the Mid-Atlantic and Carolinas. His experience spans site selection, lease and purchase negotiations, portfolio strategy, market expansion, and development planning.
Mathew founded Traver HRE to provide clients with experienced, independent representation without the bureaucracy, canned advice, or unnecessary drama often associated with traditional commercial real estate. His approach is strategic and analytical, but also direct, practical, and grounded in the realities of running a healthcare business.
Personally, Mathew is a no-nonsense advisor who believes candor and caring are not mutually exclusive. He is intensely loyal to his clients, protective of their interests, and never afraid to have a difficult conversation when circumstances require one. At the same time, he brings humor and levity to the process, making even complicated transactions as light, enjoyable, and manageable as possible.
Mathew takes the work seriously—but not himself. Clients can expect honest advice, clear communication, a healthy sense of humor, and absolutely no appetite for BS or unnecessary drama.
