About Melody
Even after 40 years in the Miami real estate market, Melody Torrens is still breaking new ground as one of the city’s most experienced real estate professionals. Melody currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the City of Miami Planning, Zoning, and Appeals board; and as Past President and Board Member of her Beth David Congregation. And yet, she is compelled to say that each sale she has been responsible for has left an impression. Just this past year, Melody sold two homes belonging to the estate of the first woman to ever race boats offshore in the 1950s. One was a coral rock house in Midtown, surrounded by high-rises and the other a sprawling home on the shores of the Miami River. After so many years in this business Melody has sold everything from an Old Spanish home in West Palm Beach to a conch house in the Keys and everything in between. Lately, however, most of her clients are interested in Coconut Grove, Shenandoah, and the Miami River – which she also calls home.
Melody grew up in Miami Beach and has lived on the Miami River since 1974. The first few years, she lived in a floating home, then in 1979 she bought the home she has today – and has enjoyed the view as she sees the rest of the world now discovering "her river."
Throughout her career, Melody has made a name for herself by always being educated about the market, dependable, and organized. Her clients will tell you she is one of the most knowledgeable, insightful, and honest agents working in the business today. For Melody, however, it’s simply an extension of who she is. The bottom line is she is a people person. She loves bringing people together in a transaction, the challenge of proving her value by getting results for a seller and sharing in the happiness and excitement buyers have when they find the house. Its why Melody has been able to succeed in her career for so long and never stop learning about the latest tools and technologies to stay at the cutting edge of the industry.
Over the years, Melody has received numerous awards for community service and for real estate sales production, but her two children are her proudest achievements. Daughter, Sarah is an attorney in New York; and son, Benjamin is a high school History teacher in Miami. When not busy selling real estate, Melody enjoys volunteering and supporting community service and going out on her sailboat.
