Mike was born and raised in in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. He moved to Lewes, DE in 2005 when he was accepted into the doctoral program for marine studies at the University of Delaware. When he graduated with his doctorate in 2011, he could not imagine leaving this incredible coastal town. Along with a degree in marine biology, Mike and his family acquired a deep love for the area in which they lived, and together they chose to stay and make a life for themselves here.
Mike has a B.S. in Biology from Penn State University and a PhD from the University of Delaware. His wife, Janeen, is a math teacher in the Cape Henlopen School District. Together, they have a son (Jackson) and a daughter (Dylan). When he is not working, Mike enjoys spending time with his family on the beautiful beaches, surfing, fishing, building furniture, home remodeling, and exploring the countless activities and natural resources available in southern Delaware.
