ullen is the CEO and Principal of CORE Companies, encompassing Mike McMullen & Associates, Prominence Homes, and America’s Rental Managers. He also serves as the founder and CEO of each company. Mike specializes in building and inspiring teams that can meet the challenges of the ever-changing build-to-rent (BTR) market.
The success of Mike’s companies speaks for itself: Mike McMullen & Associates facilitates over $400 million in real estate sales annually in seventeen countries and thirty-one states. As of 2021, they were ranked the sixth fastest growing company in Birmingham by The Birmingham Business Journal. With a client base of well over 1200 investors and twenty-two funds, they have sold a total of over $2 billion in real estate.
Prominence is one of Alabama’s largest homebuilders. In 2021, the company completed construction on over four hundred new homes and cut the ribbon on close to six hundred more. It was named the third fastest-growing company in Birmingham by The Birmingham Business Journal, and over the past two years, has increased revenue by over 200%.
America’s Rental Managers is one of the largest single-family rental management companies in the Southeast. It manages two thousand single-family homes with a rent collection rate of 97% and an average occupancy rate of 95%. Over the past year, ARM has seen a 27% growth in the number of properties under management and a 37% growth in rent revenue resulting in a 40% growth in total revenue and a 28% growth in NOI.
In addition to his businesses, Mike personally owns more than a hundred single and multi-family properties as well as land developments and subdivisions. He has over twenty years of experience in real estate sales, construction, and rental management.
In 2008, RE/MAX named Mike the number one real estate agent in the southern six-state region based on total number of transactions. He has been an active member of the Forbes Real Estate Council since 2019, was honored as a panel speaker at IMN Single Family Rental Forum East, IMN Single Family Rental Forum West, and as a member of the Empowered Investor Network Conference in Orlando, FL. A regular contributor to Forbes, Mike is the author of the business book Build. Rent. Sell. Repeat! and the subject of the recent REI Ink magazine article: "Build to Rent in a Brave New World."
Mike earned a Business Administration degree from Auburn University where he majored in Management with minor concentrations in Accounting and Finance. He obtained a Juris Doctorate degree in 1999, and lives in Birmingham, AL with his wife Katie, his daughters Emma & Anna Claire, and the family’s dogs: Gabe, Lizzie, and Henry.
