About Phil

Phil Chen, a Broker - Associate of Christie's International Real Estate, was was also formerly “the” Founding member of Compass Mid-Peninsula & a Founding Partner at KW Burlingame, San Mateo, Half Moon Bay, and San Francisco. Phil represents clients who buy and sell homes in some of Northern California’s most sought-after neighborhoods; and he does it with great success. His achievements are due in large part to his diligent work ethic, natural enthusiasm, and skilled professional support. Having sold more than a billion dollars in real estate, Phil founded one of the premier real estate groups in the San Francisco Bay Area with a special focus in the Peninsula. Phil’s experience gives him the ability to successfully transact on a variety of assets including single and multi-family homes, land, new developments, mixed-use commercial and residential leasing, but his true expertise is in the luxury sector.

Phil didn’t choose real estate as his first career. He built and developed a successful career in the fitness business before finding his true calling. Phil owned private personal training studios in the San Francisco Financial District, which catered to Fortune 500 CEO’s, bankers, brokers, lawyers, and other affluent clientele. Although it may seem like quite a leap between his two careers, Phil quickly found that they are quite closely connected. “My clients became my investors and business partners, buying investment properties and commercial developments,” he says. He obtained his broker’s license, and in 2006, sold his gyms and entered the real estate field full time. He opened his team without ever working for a larger brokerage, using the knowledge he accrued largely on his own through his family’s investments, observation, intuition, and experience.

Phil’s approach is uniquely different in nearly every aspect from that of his peers. “I don’t see myself as another Realtor, but rather, as your neighbor, friend and an investor in your business,” he says. “I am a serial entrepreneur and that gives me a different perspective on deals.” As a businessman who explores new ideas on a regular basis, Phil makes a point of keeping an eye on the market, looking for new opportunities and trends. “I use a variety of formulas and worksheets to consistently track and monitor each micro-market which allows us to add value beyond what any buyer could find online. We have a vast network of real estate related professionals which gives us knowledge and information that is often advantageous to our clients.”
