We moved to California from Minnesota and we were looking for a home. It is during this search we happened to connect with Randy and was the best thing that happened to us. Randy not only helped us navigate the extremely difficult real estate market in California but was very patient and also very knowledgeable. I had the utmost pleasure of working with Randy (Randy Stefanko) in purchasing a new home in Encinitas. It was a memorable experience from the beginning to the closing of the deal. Because of his professionalism, his knowledge of real estate market, and his very pertinent advice on pros (positive aspects of a house) and cons (negative aspects like some hidden defects which we would not have noticed) of the property, we are now living in our dream home. For the same reason, my daughter also hired him as her agent and ended up buying her dream condo.

When we decided to buy a house in San Diego right during COVID, it was a haunting experience, and we did not know what areas were the best fit for our family as we were coming from the East Coast. Randy listened to all of our family’s needs for the house, school, and work and gave us very detailed suggestions of the best fit for our family. Randy has come through for me, not once, but twice. He’s responsive, he’s direct, and he’ll crawl under a house or into the attic to check things out. Randy helped me get the first offer in on a starter condo, which I eventually outgrew after starting a family. From there, he helped us get into a bigger house where our family could flourish. Randy will crawl under a house or into the attic to make sure your getting what you’re paying for. He helped us purchase both our first and second homes and there was never a moment where we felt like we were wasting our time viewing a home. Update 2023:
When we decided to sell our house, we knew exactly who we wanted to help us do it. This time we had the added complication of trying to do it from overseas. “Above and beyond” doesn’t begin to describe the lengths that Randy went to help us sell our house! At one point Randy was dropping by to take care of the weeds for us! He is the absolute best, I don’t know how we could have done it without him. He is worth every penny and more.

Original 2018:
Randy went above and beyond to help us find our dream house in 2018, we spent probably close to 6 months looking at place after place before we found it. He is honest, knows what to look out for and very thorough. Once we finally found the right place he took care of everything.
Randy also helped us with our recent refinance as a loan broker. It was a similarly smooth experience, especially considering we were trying to get it done quickly. He was in touch constantly, letting us know when he needed documents by, what was expected of us, and organized same-day escrow once everything was approved. We can't recommend Randy highly enough!.

Randy helped us purchase our home in 2016 as our buyer's agent. I'm so glad we had his expertise on our side, he saved us tens of thousands of dollars off the purchase price of the home in addition to always being there to answer the plethora of questions that come up in a complex transaction like this. The seller (who was a realtor herself) thanked me after the closing because of how uncommonly smooth everything had gone. I credit Randy for most of that.

We then returned to Randy a couple months ago to look at refinancing. I also reached out to a couple other lenders but Randy made it clear that he would do whatever it took to get our business and he gave us a great deal. He was again responsive throughout the process.

I would definitely recommend Randy and I'm sure we'll reach out to him again the next time we have realtor/mortgage needs.

Randy goes beyond expectations!

Randy turned purchasing a home from nightmare experience to a dream come true. My wife had high expectations and very specific goals. Randy was patient and methodical in every step of the home buying process. He was willing to take the time to find the perfect place for my wife even when it seemed impossible to me. When it came to negotiations and protecting our interests he put us before the closing the deal and his commission. His ethics, skill sets and drive to make things happen went beyond our home purchase.

My wife and I started to refinance our house with another third party. Randy reached out to review our documents. He told us our closing costs were three times what they should be and the rate was too high. I was reluctant to start the process again since I own my own business and nothing was simple in our documentation. My wife reminded me of Randy’s ethics, abilities and drive. As always - my wife was right and started all over with Randy. He lowered his commission and did what was needed to make is claims a reality. I got a much lower interest rate and 1/3 of money in closing costs.

I took the time to write this review because Randy deserves it and anyone would be lucky to have him by their side.

Randy helped us finding our first home in 2016. He always listened to our wishes: type of house, neighborhood, budget. He is also so knowledgeable about everything in the house, that he was able to advise us on many things, electricity, plumbing, ceiling and more.

I want to highly recommend Randy Stefanko from True Gold Real Estate. My wife and I were looking for our first home to raise our two young boys. Though this was our first home, this wasn’t the first time we were looking. We looked for a house about 3 years ago and worked with two other agents, but it didn’t really work out with them. The first agent didn’t act quickly enough on houses that we were interested in seeing and the second was a little too aggressive and didn’t really let us take the lead.

We started looking again right as the CoVID-19 stay-at-home orders were put in place and found two homes on the market in which we were interested. We were able to see the houses (with social distancing, of course) and put in offers on both of them.

The San Diego housing market is pretty tough, but Randy really helped walk us through the whole process. He let us take the lead in identifying the homes we were interested in and got us showings the same day we asked about certain houses. While he was quick in getting us a viewing for each, he was patient and enthusiastic as we inspected them, was knowledgeable about issues we may face, neighborhoods, and pricing. He also had great advice once we decided to put in a bid, getting us good information as to our competition and the motivations of each seller.

When we entered escrow, we had a ton of questions. Randy was always available to answer our questions, made sure we got all our paperwork done on time and met us at the house every day as we went over every part of the house prior to signing off the contingencies. He even went over every contract on the phone with us, summarizing each section and making sure we understood what we were signing. Buying a house is pretty stressful but Randy made this process as easy as possible while making sure our interests were put first. It really felt like he was as invested in the process as we were and not just looking for a payday like some other agents we had used previously.

Finally, once we closed on the house, he helped us with a couple issues we noticed after closing (leaky irrigation valve that turned out to not be properly screwed on) and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He also paid to change all of our locks. At this point, we really consider Randy to be a friend as well. If you’re looking for a realtor who works hard to make himself available to you, has good advice especially for first time buyers, and who is full of useful information to help you make the right decisions, I would highly recommend Randy.
