About Sean

Sean, originally from Ohio and raised in Raleigh, NC, made Wilmington, North Carolina his home in 1997 after enrolling at UNCW. Falling in love with the town, he never left and had the good fortune of meeting his life partner, Jennifer, during their early 20s.

Having completed a double major in Marketing and Management at UNCW, Sean carefully considered his career options. Ultimately, in 2006, he decided to venture into the real estate industry. The decision was influenced by his recent home purchase with his wife and the rapid local growth they were experiencing, leading him to pursue a profession aligned with that growth.

Sean's entry into real estate began with a position at a small developer where he learned invaluable lessons from a remarkable mentor, gaining insight into the intricacies of the industry. Unfortunately, his start coincided with the market decline in 2007, resulting in a downturn in speculative land buying.

Around the same time, Sean and his wife discovered they were expecting their first child. He subsequently transitioned to Brunswick Forest, a well-known master-planned community. Over the course of several years, he advanced within the organization, eventually representing multiple builders in a new section. However, Sean found himself feeling stagnant in this role.

Seeking a change, Sean joined Kent Homes, working under the guidance of Dan Kent, the owner, and specializing in custom home construction across various communities. This experience provided Sean with an exceptional education on the entire home construction process, from footers to finishes.

After several years in the new construction field, Sean decided it was time for another shift and joined Keller Williams Realty in Wilmington in 2015. This move granted him the flexibility to conduct real estate transactions anywhere in the world, marking a pivotal point in his career where he found tremendous satisfaction.

In the spring of 2017, Sean's vision for the McGovern Group came to fruition. As a customer service-oriented team of professionals, they assist clients in buying, selling, and investing in real estate on a global scale. With a strong focus on delivering exceptional service, Sean and the McGovern Group are dedicated to helping clients achieve their real estate goals.
