His knowledge of the Portland market and our unit priced it right for the quick sale we had hoped for. Within 48 hours of listing we had a full price offer. Repairs and cleanup were needed after renting. We live in New Mexico and were not there to do the repairs. Using contractors recommended by Stephen things were taken care of quickly and professionally with Stephens assistant Jennifer being very helpful with all the details. The best thing about Stephen is that he has used his experience to fine-tune a process that is efficient and lucrative for selling houses. He invests in the advertising/marketing aspects of the sale (e.g. visibility on all websites, professional photos, etc) which translates into a quick sale for possibly more than another realtor. I was extremely satisfied with this. We sold our house within 2 days for more that I would have expected. He also gave good advice on what we should focus on in home improvements before it went on the market. The only word of caution that I have is that he doesn’t ‘hold your hand’ as much as another dealer. He’s very responsive to any requests, but the personal touch is lighter than other realtors. For me, this was a perfect match (I didn’t want much of that) but if your personality type wants to be close to your realtor you may want to go with someone else. ~ Richard

We were in a difficult situation after losing my job. We decided to Short Sale our property with Stephen. I found employment just 3 months after losing my initial job but we had to relocate, so the Short Sale still made the most sense. With all of the difficulties of losing a job and having to relocate, it would have been impossible to work with the bank on our own. Stephen made the whole process as easy as possible for us. The hassles of the property were never a distraction for us, as Stephen was always updating and advising (good advising) us whenever it was needed. If you are considering a Deed of Lieu, please work with Stephen first. We listed in a very hot market, the house was only active for three days before we received multiple offers and accepted one above asking. We really needed a 60 day rent back to give us enough time to find a new house. Jennifer was awesome and went back and forth between the two best offers to get us the highest price and the rent back period that we needed. The only thing that was somewhat surprising for us was that once we received offers on our house we didn’t work with Stephen, we worked exclusively with Jennifer to get the deal closed. In this market, I don't know how she's able to get anyone to have a turnaround time that fast, but she seemed to do it with ease. We priced the house close enough to what I wanted, and got offers right away, even before a schedule open house (which says something about the traffic for the team). I found Steven when googling Portland housing market. His articles demonstrated current knowledge of the market and flexible thinking. The Realtor I used when I last sold in 2007 didn’t realize the market was changing, and gave me poor advice. A Realtor who sells an average of 2 houses a week is in great touch with the market. Steven’s photographer took great photos for the listing. The interior photos looked better than real life. The attractive photos and directness of the text made for a great RMLS listing, which generates the interest to view the house. Our experience with Mr. Fitzmaurice has been nothing short of flawless. Stephen has his art down to a science, and is one of the most efficient realtors I’ve had the privilege to have worked with. Having never worked with a team on prior real estate transactions I was a bit skeptical, but my skepticism was entirely unfounded. The team knew the market and when I told them I wanted a fixer that I could use a VA loan on, they found one. Quite a difficult task given the stringent requirements put on houses by the VA. My wife & I were looking for an honest realtor that would offer us (the seller) a fair price and at the same time implement outstanding service in the selling our home. We found Stephen FitzMaurice. We knew that in our neighbor there was lots of competition with 10 homes for sale. Stephen told us that with the home priced fairly and proper promotion the home could sale within a month or two. I thought that might be a tall order. Knowing that Stephen was one of the preeminent agents in the area we decided to trust him. Within 3 weeks we had a cash offer for the full asking price. In her defense, we bought into the teeth of a seller's market so the seller didn't feel the need to budge. Stephen was very professional throughout the entire process. Was able to list a few hours after we talked. Well versed in internet listings to target the largest audiences. And most of all, even when a deal fell through, he never pressured me into taking a lesser offer. He knew my objective and he stuck to it. I really felt like he was working for me. I think finding the right agent is all about the right fit. For me in this particular home-selling situation, I was looking for someone who is responsive and straightforward. That is exactly how I would describe Stephen. He's to the point but thorough. And extremely quick with response. In addition, his fees are incredibly reasonable. If this is what you're looking for, too, I would highly recommend Stephen!
