I’m Thor Hmielewski, a full-time real estate advisor, lifelong Floridian, and admittedly, not your average Realtor.
My path to real estate has been anything but conventional. In my early twenties, I served as a Marine advising foreign forces in Afghanistan. By twenty-nine, I was in Iraq leading high-threat security teams supporting senior U.S. diplomats. Those years taught me the value of preparation, sound judgment, discretion, and the responsibility that comes with being trusted to look after someone else’s interests.
The setting is different today, but that responsibility remains much the same.
Since entering real estate full-time in 2021, I’ve helped clients transact millions of dollars in real estate throughout Southwest Florida, from straightforward purchases and sales to complex transactions requiring careful strategy and negotiation.
I believe my role is to advocate for my clients at every stage of a transaction while giving them the insight and honest counsel needed to make confident decisions. Whether I’m positioning a property to achieve the strongest possible result, negotiating on a client’s behalf, or navigating a difficult transaction, I approach every situation with strategy, persistence, and sound judgment. My goal is simple: protect my client’s interests and help them achieve the best possible outcome.
My appreciation for real estate began well before I became licensed. My family has been involved in Florida real estate for years, giving me an early understanding that there is often far more to a property than what appears in a listing or on paper. That perspective continues to shape how I advise buyers, sellers, investors, and developers today.
I also bring firsthand experience with the complexities of community associations. As a former association board member, I helped guide my community through an extensive property-damage claim following Hurricane Ian, gaining valuable experience with insurance, reserves, governing documents, and special assessments—the less glamorous details that can have a significant impact on property ownership in Florida.
Outside of work, I enjoy the Florida lifestyle I grew up with, supporting the local businesses that give Southwest Florida its character, and traveling. I’m an avid student of history and have visited more than fifteen countries and many of our nation’s national parks.
After a career spent advising and protecting others, I’ve found that the work I value most still centers on the same principles: preparation, judgment, honesty, discretion, and taking seriously the trust others place in me.
