About Tim
Tim Pettigrew | Realtor at eXp Realty | Tim Sells Pittsburgh, LLC
Small town roots. Big city results.
I grew up in Lower Burrell. Small town, Alle-Kiski Valley, the kind of place where you know the people at the grocery store. When I first came to the city I didn't like it — but that's only because I didn't know it yet. Once I did, I was hooked. Most people spend their lives trying to escape the city for the country. I did it backwards, and it ended up being the best decision I ever made.
Before real estate, I spent years driving the streets of Pittsburgh delivering medical equipment into people's homes for Allegheny Health Network. Every neighborhood, every block, the good parts and the rough parts, the hillside streets nobody finds on their first try. That job is the reason I know this city the way I do. You don't learn Pittsburgh from a map. You learn it by driving it, showing up at the front door, and watching how neighborhoods actually live day to day. By the time I got into real estate in 2018, I'd already seen more of this region than most agents ever will.
That's also why I write about Pittsburgh. I publish The Pittsburgh Pulse, one of the fastest-growing newsletters in the city, because I genuinely love this place and want other people to see what makes it great. The neighborhoods, the stories, the weird little corners most people drive past without noticing. If you've ever had someone try to explain Pittsburgh to you and miss the whole point, that's what I'm trying to fix.
Since going full-time in 2018, I've put deals together in just about every corner of the region — the East End (Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, Shadyside), the Alle-Kiski Valley where I'm from, and everywhere in between. On-market, off-market, quiet sales that never hit the public feed. That takes years to build. You need the relationships, the reputation, and enough trust that other agents pick up the phone when you call about something that isn't listed yet. I have that, and my clients benefit from it.
One last thing worth mentioning: my wife is a real estate attorney. I'm not, and I don't practice law — but sharing a dinner table with someone who does has given me a sharper eye for the things that matter in a contract. It's a perspective, not a service. And it shows up in how carefully I work a deal.
What you get with me is someone who actually cares about Pittsburgh, knows it block by block because he's literally driven it block by block, and will give you the straight answer every time. Not the answer that closes fastest. The right one.
If you want to talk about buying, selling, or just the city itself, reach out. I'm easy to find.
