Vanessa Byrd

Vanessa has lived in Asheville since 1984 and has watched it evolve into an amazing city. Her extensive knowledge of the area, and background in renovation and design, give her the unique ability to help her real estate clients understand the potential that a home may offer. Vanessa stays on top of the market and is constantly searching for properties that display great possibilities and she seeks out homes for clients before they even hit the market.

Vanessa has consistently been in the Top 100 Agents in sales in Asheville, and her specialties are the historic neighborhoods of Asheville, including Kenilworth, Montford, and Grove Park. She knows she has found her niche from the satisfaction she gets helping sellers successfully market their homes, and helping buyers find the perfect home – she loves it all!

Shortly after graduating with an Interior Design degree from Appalachian State University, Vanessa bought her first fixer-upper and that was it, she was hooked! Since that first experience, she has renovated dozens of historic homes in the Asheville area. Highlights, for Vanessa, were receiving the Griffin Award for Historic Preservation for her renovation of the Chiles house in Kenilworth, and that her Soco Street renovation was a featured home on the Historic Montford Tour. In the past two years, Vanessa has completed renovations on two unique estate-like homes in Kenilworth.

Currently, Vanessa lives in the Kenilworth neighborhood with her husband, John, and two wonderful boys, Joe, and Benny. They are very active in their neighborhood and in the Asheville school community. They enjoy spending time together as a family, playing soccer, camping, and traveling. It is a busy and exciting life!
