Roberts, Montana, is a small Carbon County community set against the snow-capped Beartooth Mountains. Less than an hour from the Beartooth Highway, it has easy access to scenic views and hiking trails, and its roots go back to the late 1800s as a North Pacific Railroad stop and agricultural hub. Today, Roberts functions as a rest stop for travelers heading to Yellowstone and the Beartooth Range. Things to do here include fly fishing along Rock Creek. Outdoor recreation also includes a community park with a playground and open field, Cooney State Park about 8 miles north for boating and camping, and nearby Beartooth Mountain trails such as Basin Lakes and Silver Run. There are a few local restaurants, such as The Chuckwagon, Lost Village Road House Saloon and Roberts Cafe.

Housing in Roberts is mostly single-story ranch-style and manufactured homes on quarter and half-acre lots near the center of town. It's common to see back-lot workshops and RV parking. South of town, the gated Western Ranch Estates area has homes on multi-acre lots that come on the market infrequently.

Roberts Public Schools runs on a four-day week and has one K–12 school that includes career-focused classes in business and agriculture. Daily needs are limited in town, but Red Lodge, about 13 miles south, has a downtown business district and the Beartooth Market grocery store.
