Eleven miles north of Boston, the Saugus suburb of Oakland Vale offers late-20th-century single- and multifamily homes with easy access to everyday essentials. “It’s a great location,” says Liana Bevilacqua, a Realtor with Hixon + Bevilacqua Home Group, who has over 12 years of experience. “It’s close to shopping, dining and Breakheart Reservation, which has great walking trails.” U.S. Route 1 provides a direct route to Boston, and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) buses also stop in the neighborhood. “Oakland Vale has the convenience of everything being steps from your door, but you’re still in a family-friendly neighborhood,” Bevilacqua says. Set along sidewalk-lined streets, Oakland Vale’s single-family homes are mostly late 20th-century Colonial Revivals or ranch-style houses, but there are a handful of new-construction builds and 19th-century historic houses as well. “You have established homes and neighborhoods with interconnected streets," Bevilacqua says. Colonial Revivals often have symmetrical designs with raised panel window shutters and horizontal or cobblestone siding, while ranch-style homes feature low-pitched roofs and open floor plans; attached
