I liked the staff when I was there, they were understanding but slow at times when you needed something. It's a good environment and overall good studies but some of the teachers can be to laid back.

Most teachers are very friendly and helpful. Getting help with finding colleges, scholarships, and paying for college credits offered by the school could definitely improve, however.

James River has some pretty good teachers, of course some better than others. It's a small, homey school, so everyone knows everyone, but I felt included at River, and didn't see or hear of any sort of bullying. The sports programs were average, hard to be anything more considering where we are located and how small the school is. Overall, my high school experience was great.

Our children all graduated from James River. They all have very fond memories of high school, and I was always impressed by the commitment and dedication of the teachers and staff. This school is a bright spot in Botetourt County schools.

I was very disappointed with the impersonal nature of communication from administration at this school following recent interaction. I am sure there are good people there, however, first impressions are lasting ones. I imagine courtesy and etiquette are considered obsolete. I would have expected bet...
