The Shelborne Road campus of the Carmel Clay School District is home to West Clay Elementary, Creekside Middle and College Wood Elementary schools. Along with playgrounds, athletic fields, an outdoor learning lab, the transportation office and school bus storage, these schools create a supportive community of educators and students.
Since 2004, College Wood Elementary School has served students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The College Wood Cardinals are proud of their mascot, Jimmy Cardinal, who is named after former principal James Moore. The school is also the home of one of the district’s elementary Intensive Behavior Support Programs, which seek to support students with an integrated coaching and problem-solving system. Any learner can also be enrolled in after-school care provided by the Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation Extended School Enrichment division.
Students routinely score well on state tests and in academic extracurricular programs. The spell bowl, math bowl and science bowl teams compete with the best school teams in the state. Two large, age-appropriate playgrounds, the nearby Carmel Clay Community Soccer Complex and trails around the school campus promote physical recreation and athletic activities. A strong parent-teacher organization prepares booster events, like family fun nights and fall run/walk activities, to support teachers and promote community-wide learning.

Teachers and the principal at the time, Olson, were the worst. They say they don’t tolerate bullying. But when it’s clearly in front of them, they sweep it under the rug and blame the victim!

This school is outstanding. We are moving out of state and are sad to leave it. I am not sure why there are any bad comments, I have never heard anyone complain about this school.
