Woods Charter School, for me, has been one of the best school experiences I have had, not because of the sheer academics or rigor of the curricula, but because of the culture around my school. Woods has a very low student-to-teacher ratio and heavily emphasizes connection and community building through what they call the Woods Way. There are some faults, such as the sports team not being the best, but I don't partake much in school sports, so that isn't an issue for me. All teachers and other members of the high school faculty are really kind and strive for an honest learning environment. For some people, the very small class sizes and the lack of options for electives are a negative, but I personally don't mind. Woods is also in a pretty rural area, so if you live outside Chapel Hill, it's quite a drive to get there.

My son is graduating this year and just got a prestigious scholarship. We absolutely feel this is due to his quality education, excellent reference provided by teachers who knew him and the support he received there.

This is a school that you dream your kids can attend. They are able to adapt the class to the kids and don’t teach to a test.

Woods Charter has a legacy of greatness, but today's school is very different. The standard for academic rigor is declining. The new curriculum does not promote teaching above grade level as rumored. The administration has clearly communicated that the charter does not indicate or support this objec...

The children are in a safe environment where they are able to focus on learning and social skills. Wouldn't want my ch...

GreatSchools sent me an email asking what I "am thankful for at Woods Chartered". It was spam, but I am leaving to California due to work, and I would like to say what I am thankful for. I met Cotton without an appointment outside Woods at the mall they were in, and he convinced me that my kids belo...
