Clark Montessori High School holds the distinction of being the nation’s first public Montessori high school and is recognized for its academic achievement. The school is located on the site of the estate of Myers Cooper, who served as Ohio’s governor from 1929 to 1931. The high school focuses on the triangle of Montessori education: students, teachers, and parents. Clark employs the ideal of forming a strong community of adults and teenagers who respect each other. The experiential teaching style practiced within the Montessori elementary schools of the Cincinnati Public Schools is based on the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator. These teachings inspire Clark teachers to develop the intellectual abilities for students, and guide them to becoming eager to contribute to society upon graduation. Based on the school’s vision of students finding their place in society, the high school is best known for its field studies and intersessions, the focus on community service, and its music and visual arts programs. While elementary school Montessori experience is preferred, it’s not required for entry. Students and their families are interviewed and required to sign an agreement that details the expectations of a Montessori program as part of their acceptance into the school. Clark prides itself on the diversity of the student body in race, gender, socio-economic status, and academics. Highlights include twice yearly intercessions where students select a two-week immersion course, and seniors complete a year-long in-depth study of a topic of their choice. Athletics and activities provide important extracurricular opportunities. Students can participate in 13 sports programs and seven clubs, including Gay Straight Trans Alliance, Black Student Union, and Clark Writer’s Center.

What I like about Clark Montessori high school is that they prepare you for college life. They take the time to teach you everything that you need to learn to be ready for college, they do activities that they give you to see what you like and don't like and what do you want to be when you get older. They make you think about what college you want to go when you graduate from school.

It was a good school the trips are nice for students to bond and connect. More education should be taught a lot of the people are struggling in classes.

Consider a private school if it all possible. This school is in a steady and serious decline as indicated by the various metrics found here. The school is more interested in uber left, woke culture indoctrination than it is in education. Walnut (maybe) or private school is your only hope in Cincinna...

It's a great school!! My daughter is able to take advanced classes that are interesting. She also gets to do field studies that I'm sure will transform her life (camping, hiking, going to SpaceCamp, traveling to France...)
