I love the school and the teachers. Change the school even though a new school is being built. The school maybe could change their foods to gluten free for those who may need it.

John A. Holmes was a great school when I went. It has been some years since I've graduated from there but in all actuality I'd give the school a B. I am in hopes they changed their outlook when it comes to proms though. I am apart of the LGBTQIA+ and at the time I was told I couldn't wear a suit it had to be a dress...I missed out on prom when that was something I looked towards my whole high school career. The school seems to be doing pretty well and the programs I wish they had for us when I was there so it definitely looks like the school is going in a better direction.

I liked how if students didn't understand something the teachers would review it and review it over. They were very understanding during difficult times. They made sure not to give too much work during the pandemic. They wanted every child to succeed. They kept motivating students who were lacking and wanted to give up. The principals and other staff were out in the mornings ready to greet students and bus drivers. They are very respectful teachers even when they are disrespected. They work hard to get grades in on time. Overall I love John A Holmes High school. It made me the person I am today.

Students are interested in doing projects that are meaningful to them and the community. A group of students during their free time have written grants to promote the information about invasive Hydrilla in the Chowan river. They are working to develop awareness, and prevent the spread of the weed at...
