Lanier (soon to be Katherine Johnson) Middle School is a horrible school. The school acts like a wannabe prep school and thinks they are better than everyone else outside the Fairfax pyramid. The majority of the teachers and staff here don't know how to interact with kids expect them to know everything. The administration here is biased and very discriminatory against those they don't find favorable. Hierarchism runs this school. If you're a staff member that's not part of the "favored" group you will be seen as a problem and scum. If your child is "low performing/achieving" good luck, the school will barely do anything to help them. Overall, I don't recommend Lanier and quite frankly the entire Fairfax pyramid. There are super fishy things going on in it.

The school as a whole is pretty safe, but I know of many times where a student has brought drugs or blades to school very easily.

Worst school in Fairfax county, do not let your kids come here if you don't want them to be around a kid who threatened to shoot up the same school and get praised by the county for it just because they had "good behavior"

The energy that the school has throughout the day is not great, the principals are so mean they make learning not fun and they ruined my middle school years. Most of the teachers are fine not really any complaints there but really just the principals. I went in to middle school thinking I would have...

Recently, there was a school fight, and all the teachers said was "If you have a video delete it NOW! Do no post it on social media you will get detention or suspended. Neither of the kids got suspended, or detention.

It’s a great school with lots of after school activities. If a student is eager to learn, he/she will always find the opportunity to enhance knowledge and skills. Teachers are nice and very supportive.
