Beechview Elementary School serves kindergarten through fifth grade students in an environment where children "feel valued, set and achieve goals" and "grow in their love of learning." Beechview Elementary School was recognized for its sustainability footprint and named a "Michigan Green School," and maintains a Parent Resource Room that provides parents with educational materials to take home. Supporting diversity, students participate in the Multi-age/Multicultural Program, helping other children learn English and adapt to American culture. The Beechview Elementary Newcomers Program assists English learners transition to Farmington Public Schools, conducting classes in English and other languages for a year. Newcomer classrooms are enhanced with displays of native costumes and culture donated by students' parents. Each month students and staff take part in Beechview Elementary School's “Cultures of Thinking” initiative, all reading the same text for school-wide discussion. Emphasizing math and literacy, Beechview Elementary School uses inquiry-based instruction to teach math and "Making Thinking Visible" routines to enable reading comprehension. Students at Beechview Elementary join the Student Council, Junior Optimist Club and Green Team to develop leadership skills and the school's Science Fair and Talent Show offer opportunities to get involved. At Beechview Elementary School students are empowered through service to grow.
