Gil Elementary School serves kindergarten through fifth grade students, "guiding, inspiring, learning" and "leading" them towards successful futures as middle school students. Gil Elementary School's "Cultures of Thinking Routines," encourages students to think deeply about subjects, creating a classroom experience that actively and visibly supports reflection. The school's "Thinking Wall" provides the process with a physical presence.
Dedicated to improving students' literacy and math proficiency levels, Gil Elementary strives to close learning gaps through continuous assessment of its programming and specialized intervention initiatives like the "Culture Club," an equity team created to work with school staff and students to eliminate learning disparities between student groups.
Gil Elementary School is also a Title One Targeted School, receiving funds to establish interventional methods to address students' academic and socio-emotional challenges.
Engaged by a core curriculum of science, math, reading and social studies, students at Gil Elementary can participate in extracurricular enrichment activities and clubs that include the Drama Club, Code Key Classes, the Jr. Lego League, Junior Great Books, Math Pentathlon and Science Olympiad.
