The best parts of our school is our school pride. When it comes to spirit week or school events everyone becomes proud to be a viking. The worst part is sometimes students can be a little too much drama filled which brings violence to school.

I'm only a sophmore at hilo high but this school is pretty good. However there are a lot of fights honestly-. If you just kinda ignore it then its fine. Best part is the chill teachers.

High school was an alright experience for me. They need to work on security. I could walk off campus without anyone knowing which leads me to believe that someone could walk onto campus the same way. Another issue was with some of the male staff. They were either really creepy or gender biased against female students. The best part of high school was creating the long-lasting relationships with my past teachers that have helped me to get to where I am today.

Our sons graduated last year and now attend a top university. Over their time at Hilo High the school keeps improving

Hilo High is one awful institution. A new principal was installed a couple of years ago and the school which had a lot of problems to begin with took a further plunge. College counseling is non-existent at this school, not just that, counselors actively sabotage students' efforts to develop resumes...

It's ok, but we are lucky to be able to take college level courses at HCC and UH Hilo. Admin leadership is nonexistent; it's a total shame, as there are good students here, they just need the opportunities.

My son took as many AP classes as he could and was fully ready to thrive at a private East Coast selective university. Performing Arts Learning Center program was a key resource for him, both socially and artistically.
