Our son is just blossoming at The New School. It is a warm, inclusive community that respects individual student strengths and challenges. The staff are so skilled at supporting the whole child.

Our child was doing great in middle school but once in high school (during the first year of COVID), their engagement and joy for learning waned. We switched to The New School and within a semester we saw our teenager open up and become enthusiastic about learning. They've become a more outgoing and confident person and we believe The New School is directly responsible for that.

The New School is a high school that allows students to pursue their passions. The low student student-teacher ratio allows for individual academic support. Since the curriculum is experiential-based, classes are hands on, interactive, and based on demonstrating proficiency rather than test taking skills. Every year, students embark on a 3 week Intensive trip that allows them to see and learn about a new corner of the world. thenewschoolmaine.org
