La Plata high school is a great environment. It's a fun place where we have fun events. The students gather for tailgates before the football games and we have entertaining pep rallies to encourage our sport teams. The character and liveliness of our school is different than many others. Our programs offered are some of the best in the county. I would like to see better lunch options and more amenities to athletes.

Facility needs to be updated. Need to better prepare students for standardized testing and college readiness

I currently attend La Plata and it is not the worst experience I have ever had but it isn't the best. The school spirit isn't there and the atmosphere lacks any sort of cheeriness. I will say it has improved over the past three years I have attended. For example, diversity wise it has changed and there is more and more involvement in clubs. I would like to see the atmosphere change because it is pretty depressing.

As a student here, it’s an ok school, nice teachers for the most part, mid lunch, very good Special Edu. Accommodations, although questionable attendance policies, school does need some modernization but other than that, Good school!

Mrs. Shnipes, excellent English teacher really motivating and got the kids interested in Shakespeare! Mrs Shoenbauer. A stand out sc...
