Many days of curriculum are missed due to inclement weather. The school day is cancelled when 1/3 of the school is unable to attend due to bad weather (busing / driving from other areas), 2/3 of the school pays the price for the 1/3 that is not able to attend. These cancelled days are NOT made up. I don't see how this school is able to meet the state requirements with so many unscheduled days off. All the additional days off won't improve the poor school test scores.

Lake Lure has been a great place for our family and children. When they first started, we had one elementary, one middle, and one high schools student and making on drop off each day was a real time saver. The staff and teachers genuinely care about each student. With only 2 classes per grade level, it feels more like a family than a large school. Our children have been well served at Lake Lure with two of them graduating from college with impressive grades.

A friendly school, This is my first month at LLCA and I like the way how people are friendly. The ESL teacher is nice and the middle school kids seem nice, I like the 7th grade Social Studies and Science teachers. The bathrooms are clean, I have a friend (who's a student like me) who says that she loves LLCA and she's been in LLCA for 4 years. The reason why I put "very good" is because some students don't follow the rules and can disturb you. ( but they won't harm/bully you, I just like the school It's nice and seems peaceful ).

Proceed with Caution—Not a Safe School for Children with DisabilitiesLake Lure Classical Academy (LLCA) was initially fine for our high-performing children. However, once our adopted children with special needs required IEPs, everything changed. The school environment became toxic—bullying toward ou...

This school is not challenging. Many days spent sitting around with nothing to do. Especially for those enrolled in college courses. The schedules don't align so there are 8 weeks of the school year spent doing absolutely nothing. We were babysat in another teacher's classroom along with that teache...

I attended school board and school improvement meetings to gain a sense of what the staff at LLCA holds as priority for the school. Sadly, the agendas were NOT filled with items to keep the school open (fixing mechanical issues, implementing zoom remote /e-learning), ways to better deliver consisten...

LLCA has been a great school for my kids. They started in middle school- get personalized attention and every teacher gets to know them well. EOG test scores have all been 4’s and 5’s and they stay busy with sports and activities. Coming from a big school district to here, can highly recommend.
