Head Elementary School (Head) is a public elementary school in Lilburn, Georgia serving approximately 700 students in prekindergarten through fifth grade, with an average student-teacher ratio of 16-to-1. The school utilizes the Academic Knowledge and Skills curriculum (AKS) and implements the Gwinnett County Public School assessment program. This program shares the components of a student’s learning throughout a school year with parents and guardians, allowing them to analyze those components.
The school’s 100-book challenge is for kindergarten and first-grade students. In this challenge, each student will read 100 books or have their parent or guardian read to them, record the books on a sheet and turn in that sheet to the media center.
The drum club for fourth- and fifth-grade students teaches African drumming while developing the student's leadership skills. Students audition for around 15 spots available in this club. This club also depends on student interest and the instrument availability.
Head’s Kindness Club focuses on teaching students the value of helping others, showing empathy and performing acts of service through community projects. The school also partners with local eateries for fun school spirit nights.
