The experience has been excellent in that the school does really well at offering elective courses and dual credit classes with the college in town. The school also offers plenty of extra activities and in almost all activities always extremely successful. The only problem is the school lacks qualified teachers in some subjects and don't offer many different type or branches off of core subjects.

I have strong connections with several of the teachers at MHS. The overall environment is kind and nonjudgmental, and I have made some of my best friends there. However, there is a heavy emphasis on sports, sometimes to the neglect or detriment of the Arts. Football in particular is often prioritized over things such as Marching Band, Choir, and Drama.

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the school. I felt very welcomed and comfortable there. The school also made me feel safe and secure. However, the one thing I wish I could change was the curriculum offered. I never felt challenged enough which compelled me to take courses at the college nearby. Very few honors and AP classes were offered. I believe this had a huge effect on my education.

McCook High School is truly and outstanding 9-12 building. The student scores are excellent with an ACT average over a point higher than the national and state averages. MHS has great kids, great teachers and great administration.
