John A. Baker Elementary School is a highly rated public school located at 3125 Bluewood Drive in the Prosper Independent School District. Baker Elementary has served this community since 2007 and just celebrated its fifteenth year. The school enrollment is 641 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The student-teacher ratio is seventeen to one. Along with the mission of Prosper Independent School District's emphasis on high expectations in academics, the character of students, and quality instruction in a safe environment, this school meets and exceeds its educational standards.
The school’s namesake, John A. Baker, donated the land for the school so “the ‘little tykes’ could have a great start on their education.” The J. Baker Corporation was instrumental in developing many of the subdivisions in the area over the past 25 years. This donation to the elementary school was Mr. Baker’s way of giving back to the community.
In addition to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, all students participate in music, art, and physical education. Students can serve on the Student Council or compete in academic with the University Interscholastic League, which include chess, storytelling, spelling, and creative writing, among other categories. The students have plenty of room to play at recess in the securely fenced modern playground with swings, a climbing wall, and other shaded climbing equipment. An outdoor basketball court rounds out the play area. James A Baker’s vision is grounded in tradition as these students soar to new beginnings.

Baker is the BEST school in Prosper! The administration and staff do so much for my 3 students. They have grown and learned so much. The Principal cares and it shows.
