With the new Common Core State Standards, the "core" classes are too difficult and not applicable to every-day life or the workforce. There are few electives, and many are geared towards "manly" subjects, such as engineering and woodshop. We have few fine arts classes and programs, and the workload is far too much for the amount we are learning (which isn't much; most of the information is useless and students often remember it long enough to take the test).

Monroe Grade School used to be a warm and friendly atmosphere. Over the last five years there has been a rapid decline in moral, and a thriving learning environment. In my opinion it is due to the unprofessional leadership by the gradeschool principal. For most of our staff it has become a hostile w...
