Ruth Hill Elementary School is a public prekindergarten through fifth-grade school located in Newnan, Georgia and a part of the Coweta County School System. The school serves over 300 students and has a student-teacher ratio of 11-to-1.
Ruth Hill believes in implementing and utilizing evidence-based strategies that cater to every student and mold the Coweta County School System curriculum to fit the learning styles of individual learners. They do this by setting high expectations for their students, gathering and analyzing data and setting sensible, achievable goals.
The school offers Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). This framework includes Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports. RTI is a data-based system that determines a student's status concerning exceptional education; whether that be special education, 504 plans and the gifted program. PBIS has been proven to have a positive effect on schools across the board by reducing disciplinary incidents. It is also a framework that sets expectations and uses positive reinforcement to improve students’ social skills.
Character Education is a program that helps students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade develop character traits such as courage, fairness, respect for others, diligence, self-control, courtesy, honesty, compassion, generosity and kindness, among others.
