My experience at Newport High School has been fun, but I never felt fully at home. I joined some clubs and gathered resources and education from them, but I don't think Newport High School is strong in its activities for students. There are encouraging guest speakers for certain events, and a limited budget to learn, but we (as students) are very limited in what we want to do. Our senior prank has to be approved, our "student-driven classes" are more aimed toward how the teachers run them. The community is great, but we are constrained as students.

Newport High School is highly competitive in the academic category. Classes are challenging and college ready. Students who would like to do sports and AP classes must be ready for a challenging 4 years. Many students transferred out to another school due to the vigorous demands from doing sport and academic classes.

there was a definite struggle with the academic and social pressure in freshman year. The academic pressure remains all four years for better and for worse. AP season is hard but it does push students towards higher levels of coursework thus preparing us better for college classes.

The new principal and superintendent have made this school a good place to be. There is a renewed focus on bullying an drug problems, and school Spirit has never been higher.
