There's a lot of AP offerings, but not many accelerated or IB courses. There aren't any real honors courses. There are a lot of fights and drama. There is not a lot of arts or music funding, and not a lot of funding for sports that aren't mainstream (ex swim, wrestling, etc). We're in a teacher shortage which caused a lot of more advanced classes to be cut. There are multiple advanced courses I wanted to but didn't have room to take since there's a lot of dumb graduation required electives I personally think we should be able to test out of.

Calvert High was like your typical high school: unremarkable in many regards, with its vices and virtues. My time there wasn't terrible; they did what was necessary to prepare you for college and offered a good number of extracurriculars for students to get involved as well as a good variety of classes to enroll in.

Calvert High school overall was a good experience for me as a student. My academic needs were met and I always had someone to ask for help. There is a vast range of clubs offered and the sports are always enjoyable. The music and arts department were incredible as well. The only thing that needs to be changed is the safety at the school. The fighting became a lot during my senior year. But overall, it is a great school.

My son is a recent graduate of CHS. The staff is very pleasant, and helpful. Dr. Johnson personal sat in on my conference with my son, teachers and counselor. I think that by attending this school, my academic achievement has been slowed. The teachers are not very goods, and the facilities seem as through they will fall down on us at any moment. I would attend another school in a heartbeat.
