Basketball is a big deal at my school. Being "popular" at Big Pasture means you play basketball. We as the athletes do our best to keep our weight room and locker rooms clean and undamaged because we know our school can't afford newer equipment. My school has an 8th hour class to help stay active if you choose to take it. My team preforms well together and we try to be supportive of other sports and attend games other than our own. Fan support is tremendous. We have a fairly large crowd that attends almost every game whether home or away.

My school is unique because you don't have to be what most people know as "popular" to be known. Everyone is on a first name basis and if you say someones first name, no one has to ask who your talking about. I don't know of any other school where a senior could walk into any class in the elementary school and name over half of the class. I am proud to say that if I walk through my elementary school that most of the kids would yell my name and be excited to see me and come and give me a hug. Not only at school. I work at a local grocery mart and any child that goes to my school will come and hug me and most of the mothers don't have to worry who their child just gave a hug to because they already know who I am. The mothers of a bunch of the students take care of most of everything we need done because we are so short of staff at the high school. The moms help do anything from subbing in for a teacher to making cheese for nachos for the game that night. If I had to do it all over again, I would like to go to a different school just to see what it was like to be at a bigger school with more kids. Its the small-school atmosphere that I love about my school. Last year, the basketball team had a dinner. One of the grandparents of one of the players in my class came up to me and asked if I was ready for the big game tomorrow. That is one of the reasons I love my school. You don't get that kind of support from just anyone. In a bigger school and a bigger community not everyone would know that I was a player on their grandchild's basketball team and even bigger than that, ask me if I was ready to play. My school may not be the richest or the most well staffed, but no one in our community is going to let Big Pasture crumble. I will be sad to graduate but I am excited to get the opportunity to move on from my high school and go to college.

They have never really did anything for bullying. Even some of the teachers are bullies if they dont like you.

Terrible. My students tested in a private diagnostic test several grades below thier grade level. They all had good grades, though.

Great home town feeling. Could use more funding and maybe a little more education to challenge more gifted students.
