Impossible to break into a clique if you haven't lived in the town since kindergarten. The kids can be pretty racist and xenophobic.

Great school. Kids are prepared for college. I've often heard they find college easier than high school and don't struggle like some of the other kids. School is small which is both good (small class size and everyone knows each other) and not good (ready to move on after four years either the same kids).

I love the staff at Joel Barlow. I've made great connections to the athletics and security staff and I know if I need anything I can go to them. The worst thing I would say is the diversity because it is predominately Caucasian.

Great school. Academics are strong and kids are well prepared for college. Classes are small and teachers know all the students. It’s a small school so everyone knows each other though more diversity would be good.

National ranking is not impressive. Testing scores are low. Lots of bullying and hard drinking at this school as there isn't much of an outlet for boredom in the town.

The school test scores and proficiency rates are embarrassing for this region. The administration needs to do what it can to make our schools better and handle the difficult bullying problems. Joel Barlow is not as rigorous as it once was. The town needs to fix the schools to stay competitive with nearby towns.
