The school had a bad reputation because we are the "ghetto school" but the teachers and everyone is so welcoming and are devoted to helping their students further their success

Lafayette as a whole was somewhat rough to get a handle on and I never felt like I was comfortable there until my senior year. Although I never struggled with academics much, I felt as if the staff (especially the counselors) were very biased toward the more involved and the more "popular" kids. I never felt like I could really go to them because I was not one of those kids. It took so long to feel a part of anything there.

The thing I love about Lafayette is the wonderful students and staff that we possess. The students are mostly undivided and everyone talks to each other. The staff is always attentive and ready to ensure the students are getting the correct help if needed. We are all like a family to each other and everyone in the school is highly cared for. One thing I would like to see changed is the amount of college courses we offer. Some schools have more opportunity than ours. I feel that we have a great staff but what would make it even better is more college classes.

This coupled with a poorly led district leaves students underprepared for high school. A majority of the problems that the three of my students faced were p...
