Stafford Elementary School is a part of the Edgewood Independent School District. The school is named in honor of Mr. C. P. Stafford who in 1931 facilitated the purchase of four acres of land where the first school to bear his name would be built. Originally just called Stafford, the school would be formally named Stafford Elementary due to increased enrollments in 1939. This district’s policy of open enrollment with open boundaries allows students the greatest selection of institutions to choose from.
In the 2020 – 2021 school year, Stafford enrolled approximately 500 students. There are 28 fulltime teachers giving a student-to-teacher ratio of 18-to-1, which is slightly above the national average. Serving children in kindergarten through fifth grade, Stafford is a great start to your student’s education. Empowering their students to “achieve their best, by discovering and enhancing their strengths, talents, and knowledge” is the Stafford mission statement.
Curriculum at Stafford is designed to put students on the right footing educationally with a Project Based Learning philosophy. Courses in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics are available. Additional options for learning come in the form of a wide range of extracurricular offerings such as the art and painting club, the news crew, dance and the chess club, to name a few.
