After attending Smith Valley School since sophomore year, I have many different feelings about the school. The school has its pros and cons but one thing for me is that academically I feel that the school fails to prepare high school students for college. I think that it does however provide students with a memorable highschool experience when it comes to sports.

There is very little to no racism at this school. Although about a third of the students are hispanic and two thirds white, we get along and mix quite well. We also have two-five foreign exchange students each year that teach us the diverse cultures in their countries. Everyone relatively gets along quite well and there is little peer pressure.

The school safety system is okay but effective, because there is little to no violence at the school. The police are nearby, so they can get to the school quickly if we need them. But there are few safety measures that the school uses, mostly limited to security cameras and having most of the school doors locked.

My grandchildren have been attending this school for years. They are all excelling in their classes due to the teachers that care so much about each individual child. The new Principal is outstanding and cares for each and every child in the school. My own children attended large schools growing up...

This school is, hands down, the one of the best schools I've seen. My children are all enrolled here, ranging from the elementary to the high school. Yes, in the past there was a few issues, but with the new principal (Mark Gradillas) there is zero tolerance for any nonsense. You can not keep a stud...

Smith Valley School is an outstanding school! We consistently have each others backs and bullying is not a big problem.
