After attending Smith Valley School since sophomore year, I have many different feelings about the school. The school has its pros and cons but one thing for me is that academically I feel that the school fails to prepare high school students for college. I think that it does however provide students with a memorable highschool experience when it comes to sports.

Almost all the students are involved in some kind of sport. We have fairly good sports teams and are pretty well encouraged by our fans on the sidelines.

Since the school is so small, a lot of times our academics get put on hold when there are sports and other activities going on. Our math teacher is TERRIBLE because there was very little choice on hiring him since we needed a math teacher and no one else applied for the job. We are too far in the middle of nowhere to get adequate teaching staff in the past few years, so we get stuck with the teachers no other school wants.

My grandchildren have been attending this school for years. They are all excelling in their classes due to the teachers that care so much about each individual child. The new Principal is outstanding and cares for each and every child in the school. My own children attended large schools growing up...

This school is, hands down, the one of the best schools I've seen. My children are all enrolled here, ranging from the elementary to the high school. Yes, in the past there was a few issues, but with the new principal (Mark Gradillas) there is zero tolerance for any nonsense. You can not keep a stud...

Smith Valley School is an outstanding school! We consistently have each others backs and bullying is not a big problem. If you behave in a mature fashion and work hard in class you tend to be well-liked. We are consistently ranked as a high-achieving school and we're proud of it. The principal who t...
