I have enjoyed my time at South Sumter High School. The fun times and activities provided to us will leave long lasting memories for me and I'm sure for many other students. The school life is great and the people here are nice. The teachers here also are really nice and very encouraging to the students. I would rate my overall experience a 8/10.

When I attended South Sumter High School, very few courses were offered besides the basic mandatory courses, traditional electives (IE: ROTC, band, gym, Spanish), and some select AP classes. I would have loved to see more rigorous courses available. When it came time to get my transcripts (2024), the front office staff was less than helpful, very unprofessional, and added a lot of extra frustration.

In south Sumter high school, the school day doesn't end until 4:07 and then the bus rides home are 30 minutes. The school day takes up 2/3 of our days, this doesn't allow students to work at earlier times. However, the school has a great dual enrollment program and AP and AICE Cambridge classes. This helps students start working on college work at a young age. A negative about the high school, other than the schedule, is the poor quality in teachers. During the school year some kids will lose their teachers and cram them with another class. I would like to see a change in the quality of teaching and for the day to end at an earlier time.

most of the five star reviews you see here are either teachers or students of teachers.....beware before you put your child in this school, go to complaint.tv.com to see one of the recent stories on bullying. you will save yourself and your child a lot of grief, and if you don't have 900.00 saved up...

I don't think you will be happy with this school, but give it a try. Not many schools these days are very good. Children may like the school, but just know that they will be no where near being prepared for college by going to this one.
