Liberty Elementary School is located on Carew Street in the Springfield neighborhood of Liberty Heights. The school opened in 1918 and now serves roughly 300 students, providing instruction in core subjects with a strong of focus on math and literacy.
The school was once a math and communications magnet school, and although Liberty continues many of the practices left over from their former magnet designation, they are now a Cornerstone school with a cross-curricular focus on literacy. This academic concentration is embedded in the instruction of all academic classes.
Students participate in enrichment classes including music, art, physical education and technology. The school creates live news broadcasts for the school community in their television studio. Liberty School students and staff also engage in community-building events such as Spirit Week and other schoolwide challenges.
Liberty School is in partnership with various community organizations, including the 21st Century Program, and volunteers that support enrichment activities for students at the school.

My child attends this school and is in the special ed program. This is by far the best special ed program I have ever seen. The teachers and teacher aids are amazing. My child has had a remarkable improvement across the board. School is safe and teacher parent relationship is excellent.

My son has been attending Liberty since kindergarten. I have to say that in the almost 3 years that he has been there I am very disappointed with the school. My son is in 2nd grade he comes home with what looks like kinder/1st grade homework. My child is not your average student he reads at a 4th gr...
