The Transfiguration School on Prospect Avenue in Tarrytown was founded in 1949 by the order of Carmelite Friars, and is part of the Central Westchester Catholic School Region. This school is an accredited school that follows New York’s Common Core curriculum. The student population of around 600 attends classes for students in prekindergarten through eighth grade.
There is daily instruction based on teachings of the Catholic faith, using texts approved by the Archdiocese of New York. The school’s administration adheres to the belief that a commitment to excellence in all areas of education will result in an institution that produces qualified, caring students. The basis of the Transfiguration School’s educational program is the formation of students in the Roman Catholic faith, achieved through direct instruction, liturgical experiences, sacramental preparation and community service activities.
Students prepare during school for their initial participation in the sacraments of reconciliation, first Eucharist and confirmation, and they celebrate these rituals with their fellow students in the school’s Religious Education program. Additionally, the Transfiguration school also provides enrichment programs in art, music and drama. The school also boasts several sports teams in basketball, volleyball, cross-country and track—all representing the school’s mascot, the Viking.

It's a small but mighty school. My daughter is in high school now and it completely prepped her for her high school journey. Transfiguration is like a family and it's a wonderful safe place for children to learn. I highly recommend!!

Great experience overall. Good staff and good environment. My daughter loves going to school there. The teachers are doing a fantastic job keeping her enthusiastic.
