As a familiar landmark in Midtown Tucson, John. B. Wright Elementary serves more than 450 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade as part of the Tucson Unified School District.
With a vision of inspiring students to become the leaders who will impact our world and create a better tomorrow, the school focuses on STEM learning. The curriculum elevates projected-based learning in science, technology, engineering, and math that emphasizes critical thinking and the scientific method.
To encourage creativity and well-rounded development, the school also follows Tucson’s Opening Minds Through the Arts program (OMA) with an arts integration specialist on staff. Through the program, students are immersed in the arts with twice-weekly classes in music, dance, opera, theater, and the visual arts. In addition, students can engage with guest artists from the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Arizona Opera Company, and other arts organizations.
John B. Wright also offers Arabic language classes, a gifted program, a community garden, and a number of before- and after-school activities. Through online programs, students can dedicate more time to their studies whether through coding, cool math games, ReadWorks, or sample statewide achievement tests for Arizonan students.
