Named after one of the first two U.S. senators for Oklahoma, Owen Elementary strives to create a high-quality learning environment. This public elementary school is in the Sequoyah neighborhood and is part of Tulsa Public Schools. Serving grades prekindergarten through sixth grade, there is a total student body of approximately 450 students.
With nationally board-certified teachers, the curriculum is rigorous and challenging, while staying appropriate to each grade level. Students are inspired to excel academically, socially and emotionally. Core subjects include math, science, reading, language arts and social studies. All students also receive education in music, art and physical education. Students can participate in extracurriculars like art club, safety patrol, speech and debate, STEM courses and student council.
The school provides an After Learning program where students in grades pre-K through fifth can get support with homework, participate in fun activities and have nutritious afternoon snacks until 6 p.m. While there is a strong focus on the students inside the classroom, there is also an emphasis on making sure they can excel outside of school, in their future careers and more.
