White Rock Elementary is surrounded by lovely homes and lush trees in the Lake Highlands area of the White Rock Lake neighborhood.
Established in 1961 with only 14 classrooms and 367 students, it now serves over 900 pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade students in modern, updated facilities with many amenities.
Consistently recognized by the Texas Education Agency as an Exemplary School since 2009, the school ranks well above average in test scores. In addition to high academic standards, various programs and services are offered to meet all students' needs. These include counseling, orchestra, band, choir, technology and media integration. Other extracurricular activities range from the chess club to the BotBall club, a hands-on coding program used with robotics for fourth and fifth grade students.
Soccer fields surround the school, two modern playground areas with brightly colored sails for shade, an outdoor basketball court, beautiful trees and natural gardens. The entire community also enjoys these amenities after school hours.
Sammy the Seahawk, the fearless golden mascot, proudly leads these children into their bright futures.

We love WRE. I wish it were more diverse and smaller, but these are the only drawbacks of the school to me. The principal is amazing and really cares about the school and the children there.
