Faculty and staff at Trimmer Elementary School come to work with the goal of upholding the school’s motto of “every student, every day.” For the 430 students at Trimmer, this translates to a well-rounded, hands-on education that prepares them for middle school, high school and beyond.
Fourth and fifth grade students’ core academics are divided between two teachers: one for English language arts and one for math, science and social studies. Specialties including art, music, physical education and technology each have dedicated instructors to provide a comprehensive education spanning the curriculum spectrum. The student-to-teacher ratio is 14-to-1, and over 50% of students here score at or above their reading level on standardized tests. As part of the West York School District, Trimmer’s mascot is the always-loyal Bulldog.
Elementary school is a pivotal time for students to begin exploring interests outside of the classroom, and Trimmer provides opportunities for them to do so through exposure to band and chorus.
