Yorkshire Elementary School, also known as YES, is a public school located in East York, Pennsylvania. Yorkshire Elementary is tucked away in a quiet, residential area, yet is conveniently only a few minutes away from Eastern Boulevard and Route 30. The school serves slightly over 200 children in grades K-2 with a student-to-teacher ratio of 9-to-1. Yorkshire Elementary serves fewer grades than surrounding elementary schools, giving students a close-knit atmosphere and more individualized attention. Yorkshire Elementary School is well-equipped to accommodate students with a diverse range of learning needs. Gifted programs enable students to engage in schoolwork that matches their advanced skill set with reading and math specialists giving students the support they need to reach their full potential. Technology plays an outsized role in the daily lives of students at Yorkshire Elementary, as common education tools such as Kahoot, BrainPOP and Google Classroom are used to enhance learning. The elementary school offers before-school and after-school care for children ages 3-12 in a partnership with the YWCA. The program also includes bus transportation to and from elementary schools. Students at Yorkshire Elementary learn and play under the friendly supervision of its mascot Yorkie the Bear.
