The beautiful city of Seattle, nicknamed the Emerald City, lies on an isthmus between Puget Sound and Lake Washington in Western Washington State. This beautiful city has a unique history and a varied culture, which gives it a flair all its own. As one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities, it is experiencing a boom in housing. Many condominiums are available here, as well as charming bungalows and Tudor-style homes.

Like Rome, Seattle is built on 7 hills. Each of these hills is a separate neighborhood, with houses that vary in price. The Magnolia neighborhood is very well-established with stately homes, some of which offer jaw-dropping views of the city. Capitol Hill offers a mixture of large mansions converted to condominiums and small single-family homes, with an atmosphere of lively congeniality. Queen Anne Hill has many apartments, condos and single-family homes. This neighborhood offers a convenient drive or bus ride downtown. For residents of Seattle, there is no shortage of recreational opportunities. The Cascade Mountain Range lies just 30 miles to the east, and is a very popular destination for hiking, camping and skiing. Boaters will love being able to sail from Seattle to the San Juan Islands. The food and music scene is always evolving, but Seattle has a reputation for starting trends that spread across the country.

Seattle is home to many large employers. Some of the best-known companies headquartered here include Amazon, Starbucks and Nordstrom. In nearby Renton and Everett, you’ll find two Boeing manufacturing plants. The warehouse giant, Costco, has its headquarters in the suburb of Issaquah, and Microsoft is based in Redmond, which lies to the east of the city. In addition to these giants, there are many technological firms. Healthcare is a major industry in Seattle, as is higher education. Cargo shipping also contributes to the local economy, as Seattle is the major gateway to Asia. The Emerald City is recognized as being very favorable to businesses, and is well-known for being a hotbed of Internet startup companies.
