Spring Grove’s story starts in 1747 on the banks of Codorus Creek. Sandwiched between York City and Hanover, this neighborhood was a hub for the iron industry. In the 1770s, an iron manufacturer established a forge at what is now known as Spring Grove. Early German and English woodchoppers flocked to the area to get in on the action and are the forebearers of the neighborhood that still exists today.
